A noiseless, patient spider,
I mark'd, where, on a little promontory, it stood, isolated;
Mark'd how, to explore the vacant, vast surrounding,
It launch'd forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself;
Ever unreeling them--ever tirelessly speeding them.
And you, O my Soul, where you stand,
Surrounded, surrounded, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing,--seeking the spheres, to
connect them;
Till the bridge you will need, be form'd--till the ductile anchor
hold;
Till the gossamer thread you fling, catch somewhere, O my Soul.

Excellent one!!
Dear Ashish,
Thanks for insight into the world of spiders - one of the most misunderstood creature. I am beginning to enjoy your blog and through them the wonders of nature. Though, I would love to explore nature and participate in such nature treks, I have not been good at apportioning time for the same. Would like to at least visit Borivli National Park and sight the tigress and her two cubs. Someday, want to visit GIR, Tadoba, Kaziranga and Bhandavgarh as well as revisit Kanha.
By the way Walt Whitman has been one of my favorite poets too and have enjoyed his Leaves of Grass while in School.
Bws,
Jayaraman
Lovely picture. I wonder if it is a female waiting to devour the male of her species!!
