The Goodluck Charm...the beginning

2010_08_08_0897 Coucal

The Greater Coucal, also known as Bharadwaj in Hindi,a widespread resident with a deep rumbling kind of call, is known to be a friend of farmers as it preys on insects & mice. That also could be the reason for it to be known as the bird which brings goodluck. For me, sighting it began my hobby for bird-watching & photography and hence has been my Goodluck Charm.

One of the finest pieces you've written! Totally agree with what you've said. Its incredible that someone living in the city of Bombay is able to take such a holistic view of life.
