Woh Subah Kabhi to Aayegi....

A lovely picture of the golden dawn!

This poem by Tagore is my favorite since school days. And those lines by Sahir Ludhiyanvi are so apt.

Yes indeed the words of Tagore and so too of Sahir touch ones inner self. It is indeed sad that we are still talking about the 'subaah' that is yet to come. One imagines that 'those days' and years gone by were purer and somewhat idealistic. Either way there is a feeling of senselesness in all that keeps happening and has happened since independence. We, the 'baby boomers' and our progeny may have taken a few steps forward but at the same time have taken too many steps backwards. We belong to a period where socialist ideas took deep roots in us, but neither those ideas nor the present ones are making much headway in truly bringing that freedom Tagore talks of nor the promised 'subaah' of Sahir.
